Capturing Quads in Video Poker
Sometimes Four of a Kind can pay as much as a Royal Flush

But usually not.  The value of a four of a kind for every 5 coins bet in video poker ranges from 125 coins in the classic Jacks or Better video poker game to 4000 coins in Triple Double Bonus video poker.  It's fantastic to pull down the 4000 Royal Flush equivalent, but any four of a kind is worthwhile in video poker.

The pay table of any Jacks or Better based video poker game can be divided into two sections - the payouts for a full house and down, and the payouts for four of a kind and above.

By collecting payouts in the lower half of the scale, the player can stay alive, and inch forward, while aiming for a four of a kind, straight flush, or royal flush.

If you don't do well in the lower half, you will run out of money before your high scoring combination arrives.  The hands in the upper section are the ones we always hope for in video poker.
